The Publications category recognizes exceptional writing, design, and overall reader experience in journals, books, reports, and other formats that contribute to the academic and professional community. These works, created and vetted by experts, are vital for advancing knowledge and fostering meaningful discussions across disciplines.
Key Subcategories
- Journals: Peer-reviewed periodicals that publish original research, reviews, or scholarly articles. Submissions may include one or more issues from a volume.
- Books: In-depth works like monographs, edited volumes, and reference works that significantly contribute to their fields. New editions must include at least 50% new content or be published 10+ years after the previous edition.
- Short Form Content: Concise publications like newsletters or blogs that deliver timely updates, insights, and commentary on current topics. Submissions must feature original content.
- Magazines: Periodicals that include articles, commentary, and reviews designed to inform and engage professionals in a specific field. Magazines are less formal than journals but more in-depth than newsletters or blogs.
- Reports: Comprehensive documents like toolkits, standards, and guidelines that present research findings or recommendations on specific topics.
- Student Journals: Two subcategories honor student-led research and literary journals, showcasing scholarly writing and creative works by emerging voices.
Eligibility & Submission Details
Publications must have been published (or at least one issue released) between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. English-language editions of textbooks or books first published in another language are not eligible. Submissions should include:
- Overview: Describe the publication’s purpose, audience, and key features.
- Impact Data: Share metrics like readership, citations, or engagement to highlight the publication’s reach and influence.
- Samples: Submit digital copies or links to representative content.
Optional materials, such as marketing or outreach efforts, may also be included.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be evaluated on:
- Innovation and Creativity: How original and impactful is the publication’s approach, format, or content?
- Quality: Assessing design, production, and content excellence.
- Usability and Accessibility: How well does the publication serve and engage its intended audience?
- Impact: Measured through analytics like sales, downloads, citations, or readership feedback.
