Your registration helps finish the Generations Fund!
We are excited to host our 4th Annual Virtual 5K Run, Walk, and Roll to benefit the Generations Fund! This inclusive event invites everyone to complete a 5K course wherever you are and in whichever way you choose. Just like last year, every registrant will receive a commemorative race T-shirt, now available in new colors for 2025! Thanks to our amazing sponsors—Elite Sponsor Silverchair, and Pacer Sponsors Access Innovations and Nova Techset—your $35 registration fee will support SSP’s Generations Fund, which aims to permanently endow workforce development and DEIA programs to enhance the future of scholarly communications. Participants will also be recognized on the Generations Fund supporters list.
Our official race day is Saturday, June 7. We encourage you to complete your 5K on this day and share your results on social media using #SSP5K. However, the SSP Virtual 5K is all about inclusivity, so you can choose when and how to complete your race! Walk, run, or roll and share your results any time after registering and before the official race day.
In mid to late April, our race hub will be available for participants to access tips from our race ambassadors, see who else is registered and where they are running, and upload race results. Since everyone will complete the race on their own course and self-report, we encourage participants to share their results for fun, but we will not recognize place finishers. The SSP Virtual 5K focuses on community participation and wellness, not competitiveness.
