New Article Galaxy MCP & Scite MCP Give AI Tools Direct Access To Licensed Scientific Literature, Citation Intelligence, & Rights-Managed Content Delivery
Research Solutions (NASDAQ: RSSS), a leading provider of AI-powered scientific research tools, has launched two integrations to address a key limitation in AI-assisted research: the gap between AI-generated content and what the scientific record supports.
Article Galaxy MCP and Scite MCP are now available to researchers and developers. These integrations connect ChatGPT (and other MCP-compatible AI tools, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Cursor) to both the breadth of scientific literature and the infrastructure required to access and use it compliantly.
Closing The Trust & Access Gap In AI-Assisted Research
Large language models (LLMs) are already deeply embedded in how researchers write, analyze, and review literature. But two structural problems have undermined their reliability in scholarly contexts: these tools cannot reliably distinguish well-supported findings from contested or retracted ones, and they lack mechanisms to check or manage access rights before surfacing or acting on content.
Research Solutions has developed an infrastructure to address both challenges.
Scite MCP connects AI tools to over 250 million indexed articles, book chapters, preprints, and datasets, along with Scite’s proprietary Smart Citations technology. Smart Citations classify each citation as supporting, mentioning, or contrasting the referenced findings, giving AI tools the ability to return answers grounded in verifiable, trustworthy research rather than generating unsourced claims.
“Researchers are already using AI tools every day for writing, analysis, coding, and literature review,” said Josh Nicholson, Chief Strategy Officer at Research Solutions and co-founder of Scite. “The problem is that these tools cannot tell you which findings are well-supported and which have been contradicted. By connecting Scite’s Smart Citations directly to the tools people already use, we’re closing that gap.”
Bringing Licensing & Compliance Into The AI Workflow
Article Galaxy MCP further extends these capabilities by connecting AI agents to Article Galaxy’s document acquisition and rights management infrastructure. For organizations with existing Article Galaxy libraries, the integration makes licensed content immediately accessible inside AI workflows, with bulk rights lookup across open access status, subscription access, rental availability, AI rights, and document delivery.
“Article Galaxy is the literature system of record for thousands of research teams worldwide,” said Roy W. Olivier, Chief Executive Officer of Research Solutions. “The Article Galaxy MCP now puts that entire system inside the AI environments researchers are already using. Searching your existing library, running a literature review, checking pricing, and acquiring new content will now be a single continuous flow of work. We’re not asking researchers to change how they work; we’re enhancing how they work by strategically bringing the literature directly to them.”
Key features of Article Galaxy MCP include end-to-end literature acquisition, AI rights management with bulk rights lookup, compliant content delivery with TDM and re-use rights managed at the platform level, administrative management for teams and entitlements, and flexible order management for document delivery, rental, and AI rights orders.
A Complete Agentic Research Toolkit
Together, the Scite MCP, Article Galaxy MCP, Scite API, and Article Galaxy API form Research Solutions’ agentic research toolkit: four interoperable components that can be deployed in any combination to suit specific use cases. The toolkit enables AI agents to find, evaluate, license, and act on scientific literature within a governed, compliant workflow.
Publisher Collaboration
Research Solutions maintains licensing relationships with publishers and is expanding these agreements to support AI and agentic use cases. By routing article access through Article Galaxy’s rights infrastructure, publishers retain control over content use within AI environments, with licensing and compliance managed at the platform level. Research Solutions is also collaborating with publishers to include paywalled content in the Scite MCP integration.

Scite MCP is now available to paid Scite subscribers, currently with access to Open Access articles. Article Galaxy MCP is also available. Organizations interested in connecting to an existing Article Galaxy library or importing a literature collection to activate MCP access can visit here or contact their Research Solutions account representative.
