In this webinar for early career professionals, panelists will explore AI’s impact on the publishing landscape (including editorial, business, and technology), share AI use cases, and provide attendees with practical insights and strategies for leveraging AI in their work.

Rebecca Benner, Managing Editor, American Society of Anesthesiologists
Rebecca Benner has more than 20 years of experience in STM journal publishing. As the current Senior Managing Editor of Anesthesiology (flagship journal of the American Society of Anesthesiologists), she is responsible for the planning and implementation of journal editorial strategies and editorial operations. Rebecca is a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s Early Career Subcommittee, and her professional interests include publishing standards and trends; the evolution of language and usage; and diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in scholarly publishing and beyond.

Josh Nicholson, Chief Strategy Officer, Research Solutions
Josh Nicholson is the Chief Strategy Officer of Research Solutions and co-founder of Scite, a next-generation citation index that puts citations into context. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of the Winnower and CEO of Authorea, two companies aimed at improving how scientists publish and collaborate. He holds a PhD in cell biology from Virginia Tech, where his research focused on the effects of aneuploidy on chromosome segregation in cancer.

Rocio Vidal, Publication Data and Ethics Manager, American Chemical Society (ACS)
Rocio joined ACS in June 2024 as a Publication Data and Ethics Manager. In her role, she provides guidance to ACS journals on ethics cases, promotes best practices and helps draft policies in accordance with industry standards as set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and assesses research integrity tools for the ACS Publishing Integrity Office. Prior to joining ACS, Rocio worked as an Editorial Manager at Science Advances, AAAS.

Hong Zhou, Director of AI Products, Wiley
Hong is the Director of Intelligent Services Group in Wiley Partner Solution and he drives AI roadmap and strategies and leads teams to design, develop and promote intelligent services/products and to enable automated, intelligent, and efficient research and publishing journeys by leveraging AI, big data, and cloud technologies. He also established and heads the AI R&D Team, which designs award-winning AI-based solutions and next-generation information discovery systems for scholarly research. Hong has recently been recognized as the Honorable Mention at the 2024 APE Award for Innovation in Scholarly Communication. He was appointed as a Chef of The Scholarly Kitchen in 2023. He is also co-chair of AI special interest group in ALPSP.
