Leadership Academy Returns for Its Second Year: Virtual Training to Develop Leadership Potential in Scholarly Publishing

We are pleased to announce the second year of our Leadership Academy, a professional development program designed to help scholarly publishing professionals strengthen core leadership skills and prepare for expanded roles within their organizations and the broader community.

Building on the success of its inaugural year, the Leadership Academy features five interactive, 90-minute monthly sessions that combine expert-led discussions, facilitated peer exchange, and guided reflection. The program is intentionally designed to deliver practical, immediately applicable leadership strategies aligned with the realities of today’s scholarly communications environment.

Designed for professionals preparing to step into management roles or seeking to strengthen their leadership impact, the Leadership Academy addresses a common gap in formal leadership training. Organizations that invest in leadership development benefit from stronger engagement, clearer strategy, and greater agility in the face of change.

2026 Leadership Academy modules include:

  • CliftonStrengths and Discovering Your Leadership Style
  • Innovation and Change Management
  • Navigating Difficult Conversations Ethically
  • Psychological Safety for Teams/Emotional Intelligence in Leadership
  • Leading Development in Your Career and Your Team

Throughout the Academy, participants will engage with experienced industry leaders and peers to explore shared leadership challenges and exchange perspectives across roles and organization types. By the conclusion of the program, attendees will leave with a practical leadership toolkit to support career growth and increased effectiveness in both formal and informal leadership roles.

In addition to live instruction, participants will have opportunities for Q&A and networking. Each registrant will also receive complimentary access to the CliftonStrengths Top 5 Assessment, supporting deeper self-awareness and more intentional leadership development.

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a digital badge, which may be shared on LinkedIn or included in professional credentials.

The Leadership Academy begins February 26, with limited enrollment to support meaningful interaction and discussion. While live attendance is encouraged, all sessions will be recorded and made available to registered participants for a limited time. Registration closes March 12.
