New “Pulse Check” Program to Capture Timely Insights from the Scholarly Communications Community

We are excited to announce the launch of Pulse Check, a new polling initiative designed to gather timely, actionable insights from across the scholarly communications community. Each Pulse Check poll will consist of 5–6 focused questions, along with optional demographic information to enable richer segmentation and understanding of trends.

By regularly “taking the temperature” of our community, Pulse Check will help track emerging challenges, opportunities, policy impacts, and shifting priorities affecting scholarly publishing organizations. Findings will support data-informed decision-making and provide a clearer picture of how our community is evolving.

A summary of each Pulse Check’s key takeaways will be published in The Scholarly Kitchen, with an expanded report available on the SSP website.

The first Pulse Check focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Scholarly Publishing, exploring current use cases, organizational readiness, ethical considerations, and perceptions of AI’s near- and long-term impacts on research dissemination. Participants may also suggest future Pulse Check topics at the end of the survey.

SSP community members and TSK readers are invited to participate in the inaugural poll until December 12.
