The Royal Society of Chemistry Expands Partnership with Silverchair to Host Journals Portfolio

Silverchair, the leading independent hosting platform for scholarly publishers, announced an expanded partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to host the organization’s comprehensive journals portfolio on the Silverchair Platform. Silverchair has served as RSC’s books platform since 2023, and this move builds on the existing partnership to further support RSC’s growth and innovation in chemical sciences publishing.

Founded in 1841, the Royal Society of Chemistry serves as an international organization connecting chemical scientists across disciplines and borders. RSC provides essential support and resources to thousands of chemical scientists worldwide and publishes more than 50 journals as part of its mission to develop, recognize, and celebrate professional capabilities while bringing the global chemistry community together to advance new discoveries.

The new platform will enhance the availability of scholarly articles and enable RSC to deliver on its goals to foster and encourage the growth and application of chemical science through improved dissemination of chemical knowledge. When launched, the new RSC site will position the organization for greater interoperability and discoverability through enhanced features and a modern user experience.

“The Royal Society of Chemistry has built a remarkable legacy over nearly two centuries of supporting the chemistry community,” said Silverchair CEO Will Schweitzer. “We’re honored to support their continued evolution and growth as they work toward ambitious goals for expanding access to chemical knowledge. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing scholarly communication through technology that serves both publishers and researchers.”

Dr. Emma Wilson, Royal Society of Chemistry Director of Publishing, said: “This has been an exciting opportunity for us to work with the Silverchair team, to really delve into the user experience for our international researcher community and ensure that their groundbreaking work is discoverable by the largest possible audience.

“We’re proud to publish cutting-edge chemistry that creates global impact – discoveries and insights that improve health, environment, and lifestyles for all of us, wherever we are in the world.”
