5K Run, Walk, and Roll Searching for Greatest Of All Teams

SSP is hosting its 4th Annual Virtual 5K Run, Walk, and Roll to benefit the Generations Fund. This inclusive event encourages you to complete a 5K course wherever you are and however you can. Like last year, every registrant receives a commemorative race t-shirt, with new colors for 2025! And, thanks to our amazing sponsors, your $35 registration fee will help finish SSP’s Generation Fund—our effort to permanently endow workforce development and DEIA programs that enhance the future of scholarly communications. We will also recognize you on the Generations Fund supporters list.

This year’s race sees the return of our special team challenge, but with two new team divisions: Small but Mighty (50 employees or fewer) and Super-Sized & Energized (51 employees or more). The winner of each division will receive a GOAT trophy! See the standings to see which company, university, or organization currently leads the pack with the most walkers, runners, and rollers! Can your company outpace your competitors with the most participants?

The organization with the most participants registered by May 29th will receive special recognition onsite at the SSP 47th Annual Meeting in Baltimore! Will Silverchair successfully defend their 2024 win? Or will your organization take the top spot from them??

It’s easy to participate in the Team Challenge. The leaderboard is populated as soon as a registration is received. There are no special instructions beyond registering; the team standings are populated based on SSP’s membership information.

Our official race day is Saturday, June 7. We encourage you to complete your 5K this day and share your results on social media using #SSP5K. But the SSP Virtual 5K is all about inclusivity, and this includes when and how you complete your race! Run, walk, or roll, and share your results anytime after registering and before the official race day.
