Wiley (NYSE: WLY), a global leader in authoritative content and research intelligence for the advancement of scientific discovery, innovation, and learning, today launched the Atypon AI Suite, a new set of AI-powered tools embedded within the Atypon Experience Platform that help researchers navigate scholarly literature more effectively.
As research volume continues to grow, researchers struggle to identify the most relevant content, comprehend specialized material, and put their attention where it delivers the most value. The AI Suite is designed to solve this problem by bringing AI tools into native, trusted on-platform experiences. At launch, the suite includes two new features:
- The AI Companion allows researchers to engage directly with content by asking questions and clarifying concepts as they read, creating an interactive experience that helps them work through complex, specialized information without leaving the authoritative source material. Atypon continues to refine and optimize the AI Companion and has already implemented improvements based on real-world feedback from researchers.
- AI Summaries generate clear, structured overviews including one-sentence summaries and layperson summaries, enabling readers to quickly evaluate relevance and make more informed decisions about where to invest their time and attention.

The AI Suite’s design reflects Atypon’s commitment to responsible AI use. AI responses are grounded exclusively in the content being viewed, are clearly noted as being AI-generated, and are retained to maintain context, attribution, and editorial intent. Publishers that use the Atypon Experience Platform maintain complete control over implementation of the AI Suite, deciding how and where its capabilities are applied across their content.
Following pilot testing, the Atypon AI Suite is now available as an add-on to the Atypon Experience Platform, one of the largest scholarly publishing platforms serving independent publishers and societies. Taking an iterative approach, additional capabilities will be added over time.
